While agriculture reports fewer lost-time claims compared to other industries, the severity of incidents is often much greater, with a high percentage resulting in fatalities. From 2011 to 2020, the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) documented an average of 62 agricultural-related fatalities per year in Canada, with 54% of those deaths linked to machinery, 58% involving farm owners or operators, and 11% involving children.
