Construction – Where Safety Saves Lives
The construction sector continues to be one of Canada’s most hazardous workplaces, where employees face daily exposure to falls, struck-by incidents, electrical hazards, and equipment-related risks. Between 2018 and 2022, construction accounted for nearly 30% of all workplace fatalities in the country, despite employing less than 8% of the national workforce. Falls from height remain the leading cause of death, with struck-by object and electrocution incidents following closely behind.
While overall injury and fatality rates have declined with stricter regulations and better safety practices, construction still records tens of thousands of lost time claims each year. These realities demonstrate why proper safety training, ongoing awareness, and employer commitment are critical to protecting lives on the job site.
Below is a list of training programs most required for construction professionals to reduce risk and maintain compliance across Canada’s worksites.
